Interaction with vendors

The TMS should have a way to automate the interaction with trucking vendors in the following tasks:

  • Register a new truck and driver

  • Upload photos of the trucks, IMO/DG permits, maintenance checklist, security background checks, insurance policy, driver licence, truck papers (registry). It should also be possible that the truck owner/driver can add an expiration date for each document.

  • Dirver should be able to register each milestone of the service, otherwise, the events should be automaticlly updated using geofences.

    Hi Jose, it's being considered. We do already have the 'trucker log app' (product owner is Linda Schou Kruse) and we have features on the backlog to capture delay information, container numbers and a few other data points from drivers' phones

    Thanks for your response Monica. Interesting video. Would it be possible for the drivers to have an app in their phones in oder to update information on route?

    Thanks Monica. Interesting video. It would be useful is the drivers could interact with the platform using a phone app.

    Hi Jose, thank you for your idea. We're delighted to be in sync with your ideas and can advise that some have already been delivered by the Inland programme:

    We have a portal called Supplier Portal, it is the frontend of the Maersk transport management system (now it's SAP TMS) and we make transport orders available for vendors to view and edit in order to make the communication back to Maersk more efficient and transparent. We allow the transport vendor to view & edit transport orders: update dates/times, add charges for Maersk to approve in advance of invoicing, advise delays, and upload photos, documents, notes, and - much more.     We also have SAP EM for 'event'/milestone monitoring & tracking; we work closely with RKEM for events and pass these to our transport management system. We're working to extend the use of this to potentially also include geofencing so we'll update on that when the view is clearer.


    • Register a new truck & driver - that one we'll have to consider further. Currently we allow a transport company to register online for use of our Supplier Portal.

    • Advise truck & driver document status, that is on our future roadmap for Inland overall. implementation will be scheduled for countries where this is a requirement.
